Character Quotes from Indian Summer by Dellani

Cereal Authors

Indian SummerSunday morning dawned gray and sullen, casting a mood of gloom over the household. We should have been happy to have the family back together. Instead we were muttering to ourselves, listless, unhappy and snappish with each other. The heat was unbearable and the air hung heavy upon us. I heard Cook say to Ana that it was storm weather.

We made our way to Mass on foot, for the chapel was only a short distance from our house. The congregation seemed oppressed by the weather. Even Father Moses was less energetic. His sermon should have been bold and fiery, instead it was damp and musty as a cellar.

Communion, always a time for celebration for me, was merely a duty to be performed. Father Moses ended Mass as quickly as he could without seeming to be unsightly, and we all went home as the first drops of rain began…

The Maker Returns!

The Maker front

It’s been a long time since I promised The Maker would return and I apologize. With one thing and another, it’s taken longer than I anticipated to get it reader ready.

I’m delighted to announce that it is now available for pre-order at Amazon!

The Lone Wolf series is especially near to my heart because the core three characters of Wil, Matilda and Marc are based (loosely) on three characters friends and I played in an old role playing game, Traveler. It’s sort of like Dungeons and Dragons, only in outer space. The character of Wil wasn’t initially part of the scenario, that was Matilda (also known as Romance) and Marc. Wil came in later and stirred things up.

Originally, I had intended to chronicle our actual game adventures but early on, things took a turn. Instead, Wil swept in, spirited Matilda away and Marc trailed after to…

Heirs of Shakazhan front

Heirs of Shakazhan is book six in the Lone Wolf Series. Sorry, it’s not out yet, but I’m working on it! Wil and Matilda have just had a spooky late night visitor, an apparition which, they reckon, is a telepathic projection. It attacks Mariah, their daughter, first and goes after her nanny. Wil tries to fight it but can’t, but with Matilda, it’s another story. She fights the entity—and wins. It leaves her shaken.

“He was incredibly powerful, wasn’t he?” his question hung between them unanswered for several minutes.

Matilda didn’t seem to be listening, but suddenly she shook herself and looked in his eyes.

“Powerful? Yes. He is quite adept at projecting himself over great distance. I’m still not sure how he does it or how far away he is….”

“Do you know who he is?”

She looked surprised, her eyes going wide. A slow smile crept across her features as she gazed at him.

“What?” He looked around nervously. This was the precise feeling he got when confronted with a lynch mob.

“You mean you don’t?”

Wil shrugged. Matilda chuckled, shaking her head in wonder. She looked self-satisfied and very cheeky, Wil thought.

“Well? Are you going to share?”

“I’m savoring this moment. It’s not often I know something you don’t.”

“Matilda….” His tone was ominous, his manner intimidating.

He Thought He Saw Is Over!

Dellani Oakes

He Thought He Saw redHe Thought He Saw is over. I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it! I thought about skipping to another book, but I decided to share the next book in the series.

the-man-who-wasnt-thereThe Man Who Wasn’t There – Book 2 in the Miracle, Mississippi series, is set in the mystical, made up town of Miracle. The Man Who Wasn’t There picks up not quite a year after He Thought He Saw ends. Jordan and Brian are happily anticipating the annual Halloween Ball, the social event of the season. This one is special, because it marks the 300th anniversary of the appearance of a magical stranger known only as The Peddlar. It also commemorates a major battle between the Circles and a cult of evil witches. Already, things are stirring and Brian’s dreams have grown tumultuous. Something wicked this way comes.
